As you may have noticed, I've been taking a little break from dungeons and posting some monsters. Actually, I've kind of been flailing around a bit lately, not drawing many dungeons, trying to get ready for my art show, thinking about some bigger color paintings, and generally wondering what to do with my life. What should I do with my life?

Next week I may post some weird little town drawings I did in a microdungeon style, but don't give up dungeon fans. I'm pretty sure there will be more dungeons in the future. My obsession with them has never yet failed me.

These weird things turn up in dungeons and waste regions from time to time. Their metal armored bodies are resistant to all but the most determined attacks, though there are chinks and vulnerabilities to be found. Each grabber is somewhat different, including size, shape, and number of limbs. They attack by grappling, seeking to subdue one opponent, then carry them away to an unknown fate. Their hands are tipped with razor-sharp claws, however, so the victim does not always survive the ordeal. The origin of these creatures is unknown, but they are suspected to be of extra-dimension origin.

To Scan or not to Scan

Today I find myself once again browsing through scanners and reviews online, contemplating spending $1000 on a high-end scanner for making high quality prints of my artwork. If that's the way I want to go, a good scanner will save me money in the long run. If it doesn't work out, I'm out $1000. What do you think?

Art Inspired by Games: Oilfurnace

I love it when games lead to really cool art. Check out Oilfurnace a Dwarf Fortress by the artist of the much-linked Boatmurder. The isometric infographic/map of the Fortress is worth the full price of admission alone.

Getting Ready for the Show

Yikes! I have an art show going up at Cafe Verite in Seattle in less than a month and I'm not ready!

Hoard Watcher

The Hoard Watcher is a guardian golem favored by the thaumaturges of the Southern Kingdoms. It is never surprised while guarding its hoard and fights tirelessly to protect it until destroyed. It has enormous strength and can deliver stunning blows. Hoard Watchers are programmed with a set of commands when created and will not deviate from those orders. Thus, for example, a Hoard Watcher ordered to protect a certain area will not pursue foes outside of it; a Watcher protecting a certain treasure might ignore explorers who don't interfere with it. Hoard Watchers have basic intelligence and are capable of speech, although their conversation tends to be rather mundane.

The Moor Ghost of Westmarch

Despite the fact of his reportedly enormous size, The Moor Ghost of Westmarch is surprisingly elusive. Nevertheless, every tavern regular from Barnstock to Ookla will tell you their personal tale of an encounter with the ghost. In some stories he's vengeful and hateful. In others, he's prone to mischief. He's often blamed for theft of goats and trampled crops, yet he is also regarded almost as a mascot by the locals. It's almost a pity that the Baron's orders leave no room for interpretation: destroy the Moor Ghost of Westmarch!
