I think that really any system is a sort of a dungeon, if you look at it a certain way. Can't you imagine crawling around inside of a ceiling fan?

Clawfoot

I don't really have anything to say about this one. I think I was renovating our bathroom when I drew it.

The Wonder

Maybe the people of this city scryed the annals of time and space and saw this wonder dimly in their orb. Or maybe this town is home to the famed Vacuum Cleaner's Guild, which has made it famous and rich. Possibly they are great believers in the greatness of ordinary tech. Or else their art is going through a richly ironic phase and this is what their choose to celebrate. Maybe they just like vacuum cleaners. Maybe it's just a joke.

Sealing Fan

The dreaded sealing fan is used to protect shrines and temples of the Ognofont dynasty. Besides their function of circulating cool, dry air through the inner sanctums, sealing fans are sometimes capable of animating and attacking intruders or, if the designers were particularly subtle, descending to block off an area once intruders have passed by to block their exit when they are tired and possibly wounded.

Thanksgiving

Yikes! I can't believe I forgot this one! I drew this dungeon last December, meaning to save it for Thanksgiving, but I forgot!

I guess when you get right down to it, I don't have much to say on the topic of Thanksgiving, other than thanks for looking at my dungeons, enjoying them, and giving me a reason to put them out there. Thanks to all the OSR people, game publishers, and art weirdos who keep putting great stuff out on the Net to look at, read, and play. This world is made of awesome.

Cupcake Dungeon

This weekend was my daughter's birthday. We had cupcakes from the best cupcake baker in the United States (which just happens to be up the street from our house), Cupcake Royale. I drew this cupcake dungeon there a few weeks ago.

There's this idea for a cooking-themed campaign that I've always wanted to do. The idea goes that any craft, taken to a high enough level, becomes essentially magic. In the Great City State of this campaign world, high-class chefs compete for wealth and acclaim. The PCs are employed by one of these chefs, a job that sends them across the world seeking rare recipes and ingredients, on missions to investigate the plans of rival chefs, and occasionally to fix a magical recipe gone horribly wrong.

Chord Progression

Here's a dungeon I drew up for my wife, the performer and storyteller over lunch after one of her performances. I'm not very creatively inspired this morning, so maybe this will pick me up. It does make me think of the possibilities of dungeons as resonating chambers, sound-based magic, and climbing around inside a giant guitar. Come to think of it, I've been told that the design for Seattle's Experience Music Project was inspired by the interior construction of a guitar.

Beyond the Domed City

A hidden chamber filled with secrets under the eyes of a watchful guardian

A doomed settlement, it's city fathers blind to the threat before them

A ribald sailor, full of tall tales

A young man, bold and ambitious, a heretic against his cause

The members of a dark cabal, ever plotting amongs themselves
